Rock Creek Hills is a vibrant, friendly community with easy access to downtown DC, Bethesda, Silver Spring and Rockville. It is convenient to Metro via bus and Ride-on service. It’s an easy walk to Old Town Kensington’s eclectic mix of restaurants, shops and weekly year-round Farmer’s Market. Weekdays, the Marc Train runs along the Cumberland line to Union Station and out to Harpers Ferry. The community is bordered by Beach Dr, Connecticut Ave, Wake Dr and Stoney Brook Dr. Rock Creek Hills is an ideal location for commuters, while its quiet park-like setting makes it ideal for professionals who prefer an office at home.
Rock Creek Park and Kensington Cabin Park are natural draws for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Weekends find bikers, joggers and hikers enjoying the open space. Kensington Cabin Park has tennis and basketball courts, a baseball diamond and playground; as well as the WPA Era Kensington Cabin, which has recently been renovated and is available as rentable community space.
The Rock Creek Hills Citizens Association keeps the community abreast of county and state issues affecting the neighborhood. The all-volunteer executive board advises on covenants which ensure the pleasing appearance of the neighborhood in addition to hosting the annual Halloween Parade and several Pot-Luck’s throughout the year. There is a community directory as well as the Rock Creek Hills listserv that keep neighbors connected and informed.
Silver Creek middle school is now open at the corner of Kensington Parkway and Saul Road and it feeds into Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. The community makes use of its tennis courts, basketball courts and a walking/running track around the ball fields when school is not in session.
Homes in Rock Creek Hills were built primarily in the 1950’s and offer plenty of “good bones” and timeless architecture. This is a neighborhood to fit right in and make it your own.
