Cheverly | MD
Check out this beautiful home on Cheverly’s premier avenue at the open house this Saturday 11:30-1:30 and Sunday between 1-4pm. Since the sellers still live in the home, the property will only be available to see from Friday to Sunday and we expect to make a decision on offers Monday after 2pm. So make sure you plan ahead to see this limited-viewing, extraordinary, and exclusive home.
The home was extensively renovated in 2018 and has only been improved since by the meticulous and stylish owners. Hang out in front of the cozy fireplace to stay warm this winter and chill out in the screened-in porch during the summer. You’ll have access to nature and outdoor social distancing without the sting of our metropolitan’s mosquito population. The master bedroom is palatial with room to stretch out, work out, or work from home. The entire home is organized as if it were made to endure the difficulties of our times. Make the most of the multiple spaces to work, play, be together, or get a breather apart. It is the perfect house for modern times. The back yard and front are prepped and ready for a green thumb to garden or to continue with the low maintenance the current owners have grown to love. Cheverly is the shining jewel East of DC. It is centrally located and holds the Americana Charm of the perfect small town for a perfect life while being one of the closest communities to the DC city itself. It has extremely close access to DC Costco, Wegmans, H St, Navy Yard, and Capitol Hill. This house stands above even most Cheverly houses in it’s close proximity to the metro and the whispered rumors of future development on Tuxedo Rd. During the summer, enjoy the Cheverly Farmer’s Market and get in line to go hang out at the pool.
Cheverly is located in the western portion of Prince George’s County, Maryland, just one mile from the northeastern Washington, D.C. border. Cheverly lies between two major road arteries—the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Maryland Rt. 50. Established as a planned residential community, Cheverly is convenient to Washington, D.C. by Metro bus and rail, and to retail shopping centers in the surrounding communities. The Town’s acreage is 80% residential, 10% commercial and 10% open space. Capitol Hill and Washington’s major federal and commercial offices are only a 15-minute ride from Cheverly’s own Metro station. It’s 25 minutes by car via Route 50. The Washington Nationals are just a few Metro stops away at the Navy Yard station. The Baltimore Orioles are 40 minutes north and the Redskins are just three miles away to the east. And just 25 minutes to the east are Annapolis and the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
Cheverly is well known for its very affordable, high-quality, small-town living. This close-knit, active community has its own Metro stop and all of the advantages of a friendly small town. Cheverly’s one and one-half square mile area is almost entirely residential. The heavily treed neighborhoods consist of mostly single-family, two-story dwellings, appealing to a variety of architectural tastes. Homes generally date from the 1920s to the 1990s. Cheverly was recently described by The Washington Post as a “pastoral community of largely professional people” where one can “find not only great buys but also a busy, unpretentious community.” Read another view from The Washington Post here.
The homes are among the most affordable in the Washington metropolitan area. Because of Cheverly’s location and quality of life, the houses have great resale value, too. Many homes are bought by folks who grew up in town. Despite its excellent services and amenities, Cheverly has one of the lowest property tax rates in the area. This is a winning combination when coupled with one of the lowest crime rates in the area. Cheverly has its own public and private elementary schools: Gladys Noon Spellman, Judith P. Hoyer, and St. Ambrose Roman Catholic. Nearby Bladensburg High School was reconstructed from the ground up and opened its doors in the Fall of 2005. It is a state-of-the-art facility for Cheverly High School students. Some Cheverly high school students may choose to attend Eleanor Roosevelt High School for their science and tech program, which is among the best in the nation, while others may select nearby parochial or other high school programs.
